Liberal/Democrats acknowledge

"demise of UK farming"

It was the Liberal/Democrats turn for the five minute political slot on national TV (Channel 4) Wednesday evening 17th December. They chose to focus on rural affairs.

They acknowledged the "demise of UK farming" and concentrated on their plea that red tape should be reduced so that those who previously worked on the land could get training in such things as forestry.

Not a word about who was going to look after agricultural land and the substantial part of the environment that it constitutes. English Nature or Scottish Natural Heritage do you think?

So it is their policy that the UK becomes increasingly dependent on other countries to provide us with food, while the threat of international terrorism against Britain escalates.

The TV programme - no doubt carefully constructed by the Liberal/Democratic Party media experts - gives the lie to Liberal/Democrat Ross Finnie (Scottish Minister for Environment and Rural Affairs Department of the Labour/Liberal Democratic Coalition) who claims that he is very supportive of Scottish farming - as witnessed by the Scottish Executive's big sell "Forward Strategy for Scottish Agriculture". All "sustainability" but little substance and even less genuine intent.
