EU PLC: board of directors in a mess as credibility plummets

The recent EU summit meeting in Brussels failed to meet any agreement on the proposed new constitution of this organisation that has so much influence on all of us and which consumes so much of our finances.

Even worse, the UK board member in the form of europhile Tony Blair was trying his best not to seek approval for his actions from the shareholders he represents. He was strongly resisting putting any new EU constitution to a referendum in the UK. Just as well for him that no agreement was reached. The UK men and women in the streets would have insisted on a referendum and he would have lost by a healthy margin.

The endless wheeling and dealing and alleged corruption that goes on in this extraordinarily cumbersome and inefficient board of directors surely would not be acceptable in any credible commercial enterprise. Yet it affects how all of us do business.
