The National Farmers Union of Scotland (NFUS)
kindly provided Land-Care with an electronic copy of its response
to the consultation paper produced by Scottish Natural Heritage
(SNH) entitled Draft Scottish Outdoor Access Code (SOAC)(1).
The NFUS response can be read in full in pdf format by clicking
HERE
Land-Care's comments on the lack of adequate public
accessiblity to the responses can be viewed HERE
Land-Care's comments on how the responses to the
draft code are going to be assessed and by whom can be viewed HERE
Land-Care's contribution to better openness and
communication regarding the responses can be viewed HERE
Land-Care will try and post on its website the
full unedited responses of those organisations and persons who are
willing to send us electronic versions of the responses that they
submitted to SNH. At the least this should help in the education
process that is so necessary for an Access Code to be a source of
agreement rather than conflict. For education to be effective the
information on which it is based needs to be openly available and
discussed. The purpose is also to try and help rebuild trust in
the government agency SNH and how it is handling this important
component of the Land Reform (Scotland) Act.
