Jules Verne Round the World Sailing Challenge
Matters to do with the care of the land and surrounding
seas are in a state of severe depression. Farming in the UK is currently
in the worst depression since the 1930s. Fishing the seas
has never been so threatened. Both thanks to political machinations
of one kind or another.
Ellen MacArthur is an inspiration in terms of
endeavour to overcome adversity (1).
The Jules Verne Trophy is awarded for the fastest
time around the world non-stop under sail. You go when you like,
and with what kind of craft you like as long as it sails. You go
with whoever you like and with as many as you like. It is the fiercest
challenge in yachting that there is.
Ellen MacArthur and crew are currently attempting
to beat the record. Here we follow their progress with regular updates
